Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Opalry, in plain English. Last updated 28 August 2026.
What Opalry is
Opalry is inventory and ROI tracking for opal cutters. It solves a specific problem: once rough opal is cut into individual stones, it becomes very easy to lose track of which parcel each stone came from — and once that link is broken, real profit per parcel can no longer be calculated.
Opalry gives every parcel, stone, and storage bucket a permanent reference number and QR code, and computes return on investment live from your purchase and sale records. It is built mobile-first, for use one-handed at a cutting bench with dusty fingers, rather than at a desk.
Who we are
Opalry is operated by OPALRY, based in Australia. Reach us at hello@opalry.com. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Opalry; “you” means the person or business using it.
Opalry is built by people who work with stone. The product follows the cutter’s actual loop — receive, identify, cut, locate, sell — because that is the order the work happens in. Our aim is that a working cutter can run their entire stock from a phone in a workshop, and know exactly what each parcel earned.
Your data is yours
You own everything you put into Opalry: your parcels, stones, buckets, photos, purchase records, and sales figures. Using Opalry does not give us ownership of any of it.
We grant ourselves only the narrow permission needed to run the service — to store your data, display it back to you, back it up, and process it to generate your labels, reports, and ROI figures. Nothing else.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your inventory, photos, or sales figures to train machine learning models.
Our access to your account
We are asked this often by dealers whose stock values are commercially sensitive, so here is the accurate answer rather than a comfortable one.
No feature in Opalry lets us — or anyone else — view the contents of your account. There is no admin screen that displays another customer’s parcels, stones, photos, prices, or ROI. Our internal administration view shows aggregate counts only: how many parcels an organisation holds, how many members it has, when they signed up. Our support impersonation tool is technically restricted to two permanently empty demo accounts and cannot enter a real customer account.
What we will not claim is that this is cryptographically impossible. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256, applied by our hosting providers), but it is not end-to-end encrypted, and we do not offer a customer-held key. As the operator of the database we hold credentials that could technically read stored records — as does every provider hosting data that its own software must read to function.
So our commitment is a policy one, and we hold to it: we access customer data only when you explicitly ask us to for support, when strictly necessary to investigate a fault or security incident, or when legally compelled. We do not browse it. If you need guarantees stronger than a policy commitment, no hosted SaaS that computes over your data can honestly offer them, and you should keep your most sensitive valuations outside any such system.
Accounts
You need an account to use Opalry, and registration is currently invite-only. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@opalry.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
You must be at least 16 years old and provide accurate details. Workspaces have roles — Owner, Manager, and Clerk — and the workspace owner controls who is invited and what each member may do.
Plans and billing
Opalry offers a Free plan with usage limits and a paid Pro plan. Current features and limits are shown in the app.
- Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe. We never handle your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period.
- We do not give pro-rata refunds for partial periods, but if Opalry fails materially and we cannot fix it, contact us — we would rather refund you than argue.
- If a payment fails, we may downgrade the workspace to Free. Your data is retained, not deleted.
- We may change pricing with at least 30 days’ notice to active subscribers.
Acceptable use
Do not use Opalry to:
- break the law, including laws on the trade of gemstones and minerals;
- store material you have no right to store;
- attempt to access another customer’s data or workspace;
- probe, scan, or test our security without written permission;
- resell or white-label the service without our agreement;
- place automated load on the service that degrades it for others, including scraping or bulk automated requests.
We may suspend accounts that do these things, and will tell you why unless legally prevented.
Reference numbers and QR labels are permanent
This is the most important operational term, so we call it out rather than burying it.
Once a reference number or QR token is issued, it is permanent and never reused. Opalry archives records instead of deleting them outright. This is deliberate: a QR label printed onto a physical stone may be scanned years later, and hard-deleting a parcel mid-history would silently corrupt the ROI of every stone cut from it.
Archiving an item hides it from your working views while preserving the record behind it. If you want your data genuinely erased, request account deletion — see the Privacy Policy.
Availability
We work to keep Opalry available and quick, but we do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, provider outages, or faults. We will give notice of planned maintenance where we reasonably can.
Keep your own records. We take backups, but Opalry should not be your only copy of commercially critical figures. Export your data periodically.
Printing and hardware
Label printing depends on your own hardware, such as a Phomemo M220, and on a local print agent running on your machine. We are not responsible for printer faults, driver problems, label stock, or print quality. Always confirm a printed label scans correctly before attaching it to a stone.
ROI figures are a tool, not advice
Opalry computes ROI from the figures you enter. Those computations are only as accurate as your inputs. Opalry does not provide financial, accounting, taxation, valuation, or investment advice, and its output should not be used as a substitute for a qualified professional. Verify figures independently before relying on them for tax, insurance, or sale decisions.
Cancellation
You may stop using Opalry and request account deletion at any time. We may terminate or suspend your account if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice and a means to export your data.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data, and our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Opalry is provided “as is” beyond the guarantees the law imposes.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date above and notify active users by email. Continuing to use Opalry after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
